Fox Lodge raises £1,850 for Alzheimer's at memorial cricket tournament
The event, which featured a six-over competition, raised a fantastic £1,850 for Alzheimer's Society, a charity close to the Heywood family.
A CHARITY cricket day in Ballymagorry has raised £1,850.
The event was held at Fox Lodge Cricket Club in memory of two much-loved supporters, the late Jackie and Margaret Heywood.
The Jackie and Margaret Heywood Memorial Cricket Day brought together members of the club, friends, family and the wider community to celebrate the lives of Jackie and Margaret, who were valued supporters of the ‘Foxies’.
The day combined cricket and community spirit with a very worthwhile cause, reflecting Jackie and Margaret’s connection with the club and the affection in which they were held.
It featured a six-a-side cricket tournament and a raffle, followed by live music and a barbecue throughout the day.
As well as providing an opportunity for people to remember the couple and share fond memories, the day was organised to raise much-needed funds for the Alzheimer’s Society.
A Fox Lodge spokesperson said: "At the end of the season, we hosted our annual Jackie and Margaret Heywood Memorial Day.
"Four six-man teams took part in a six-over competition, with two teams representing Fox Lodge, alongside Brigade and St Johnston.
"Congratulations to Brigade, who came out on top and took home the trophy.
"A big thank you to St Johnston for joining us and helping make it a great day.
"We’re delighted to announce that we raised a fantastic £1,850 for Alzheimer’s, a charity that is very close to the Heywood family.
"A huge thank you to everyone who donated, purchased tickets and supported the fundraiser. Your generosity is hugely appreciated."
Planning is already under way ahead of next year's event.
