A community organisation in East Donegal has appealed for public assistance following the theft of an important piece of equipment from its premises near Killygordon.

A community organisation in East Donegal has appealed for public assistance following the theft of an important piece of equipment from its premises near Killygordon.

The Crossroads and Killygordon Enterprise (CAKE) centre reported that its 8ft x 5ft community work trailer was stolen between 12.44am and 12.57am on Thursday, October 29.

CCTV footage captured a white Ford Focus estate car entering the premises and making off with the trailer.

The vehicle was subsequently seen travelling in the direction of Crossroads, passing the Creamery before heading towards the Carn border. It is possible that the trailer was taken across the border.

“It was last seen being towed over the border towards Killeter, County Tyrone. There is a possibility it may have been taken to Fermanagh,” said a spokesman.

The theft has caused concern for the organisation, as the trailer is an important piece of equipment used to support its local community and volunteer activities.

CAKE representatives have confirmed that they hold the trailer's unique serial number, which should assist in identifying it if it is recovered or comes to be offered for sale.

The organisation is appealing to anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the area around the time of the incident, or who may have dashcam footage showing the vehicle or trailer, to come forward.

Anyone with information about the theft or the current whereabouts of the trailer is asked to contact the CAKE centre on (0035374) 9149557 or email [email protected].

Meanwhile, following a recent break-in and theft of goods at the CAKE Centre, the organisation has announced that it will be relocating its automated external defibrillator (AED) to the outside wall of the building.

The move is intended to ensure that the potentially lifesaving equipment remains accessible to the wider community.

The centre confirmed that the defibrillator will continue to be available as normal while the premises are open. However, outside business hours, and until the relocation work has been completed, members of the public are being asked to use other publicly accessible AEDs in the area.

These are located at:

• Dromore National School

• Gleneely National School

• Donaghmore National School

• Crossroads/Killygordon Creamery

• St Patrick's Chapel, Crossroads

CAKE has thanked the community for its understanding and cooperation while the arrangements are put in place.

The organisation is urging anyone who can assist with information about the theft to get in touch, while also reminding residents of the alternative locations where they can access a defibrillator outside the centre's opening hours.
