Both Derry City and Strabane District Council and Fermanagh and Omagh District Council had closed its playing pitches due to the forecasted weather.

THE weekend’s programme of football fixtures was almost entirely wiped out due to the disruption of Storm Boelo.

The Met Office had issued a yellow weather warning on Saturday as the storm brought strong winds and heavy rain to the region.

Both Derry City and Strabane District Council and Fermanagh and Omagh District Council had closed its playing pitches due to the forecasted weather.

That mean’t many of the scheduled games did not go ahead.

Fixtures in the Saturday Morning League and across all divisions of the North West Junior League (NWJL) were postponed due to the weather.

All games postponed fixtures will be arranged, with the respective leagues confirming the new dates in due course.

Action in the Saturday Morning League continues this Saturday with a local derby at Glebe between Mourne Celtic and Sion Swifts at 10.30am.

In the NWJL, the Matt Morrison North West Junior Cup returns with all games kicking off at 1.30pm.

Donemana will host Lincoln Courts at Donemana Playing Fields with Sion Swifts taking on Foyle Wanderers at Melvin Arena.

In the Premier Division, Strabane Athletic Reserves will host Dungiven at Melvin 3G pitch.

In Division Two of the NWJL Division One, Artigarvan will host Roe Valley at Art Road. Kick-off is 2pm.

Only a handful of games proceeded in the Fermanagh and Western Football League.

Dunbreen Rovers produced an impressive performance in Division Three, recording a convincing 6-1 victory over Fintona Swifts.

The result means Rovers remain at the summit on a maximum 21 points in the first seven games of the campaign.

St Patricks Castlederg also enjoyed an away-day success, defeating Mountfield 3-1.

The result gives St Patricks a valuable three points, and they sit second on 15 points, having played a game more than the leaders.
