Tough defeat for Raphoe Ladies
Raphoe Ladies defeated 5-0 by clinical Instonians.
THE Raphoe Ladies 1st XI faced a tough day on the road against a quick and clinical Instonians side, suffering a 5-0 defeat in the Ladies Senior One League.
The girls battled hard throughout, with plenty to take forward and build on in the coming weeks.
The 2nd XI Ladies were on the road on Saturday to take on Lurgan 4th in what proved to be an evenly contested battle between the two sides in the Ladies Junior 6 League.
Lurgan took the lead in the first quarter, but Raphoe continued to battle hard and push for an equaliser.
Their persistence paid off with just three minutes remaining on the clock, as Lilia Darragh and Sabrina Barnett linked up brilliantly to work the ball into the Lurgan circle.
With the circle crowded, Barnett kept her composure to slot the ball into the back of the goal and bring Raphoe level.
A club spokesperson said: "A well-earned point on the road for Raphoe, showing great determination and fighting spirit right until the final whistle.
